Sustainability For Oregon Paleo Lands Institute
This Fall the OPLI Board of Directors is setting its sights on planning for the future. Like many organizations these past few years, OPLI has pared down its operations and staff, always trying to do more with less. As kids are headed back to school, we’re taking a look at our own three R’s.
- Reorganize - the Oregon Paleo Lands Institute was incorporated nine years ago. We opened the field office in 2006 and our Field Center in 2009. It’s been a whirlwind decade! Now we’re taking the time to look at our organization, assess our current situation and plan for the future to ensure our long-term sustainability.
- Replenish - Many individuals and organizations helped OPLI get to where it is today. Along the way, we’ve all worked hard. It’s time to take a look at how to broaden our base, and how to best stay connected with and energize those who appreciate and support our organization.
- Restore - Our short term plans include ending the year in a revenue-neutral position, which means paying off debt accumulated during the recent economic downturn. To this end, we’re launching OPLI’s 90-day, $90,000 Challenge.
We are pleased to announce the Challenge kick-off with a grant of $5,000 from Jay and Theresa Bowerman who ask the OPLI Board, you our readers, friends and supporters, to join them in their support to meet this goal.
